| Fuck Rape |
[Nov. 29th, 2005|03:14 pm] |
Ganked from epeolatry:
A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all.
instead of that bullshit, how about:
if a woman is drunk, don't rape her. if a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her. if a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her. if a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her. if a woman is jogging in a park at 5 am, don't rape her. if a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her. if a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her. if a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her. if a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her. if a woman is in a coma, don't rape her. if a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her. if a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her.
if a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her. if your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her. if your step-daughter is watching tv, don't rape her. if you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her. if your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend.
if your "friend" tells you he raped someone, report him to the police. if your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an unconscious woman upstairs and it's your turn, don't rape her, call the police and tell the guy he's a rapist.
tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, sons of friends it's not okay to rape someone.
don't tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape. don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x. don't imply that it's in any way her fault. don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he "got some" with the drunk girl. don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.
If you agree, repost it. It's that important. |

| State of the Union |
[Oct. 15th, 2004|08:32 am] |
The president of the United States of America was visibly pregnant while giving the State of the Union address. He was wearing a maternity three-piece suit which stretched over the cryo-womb that sat just under the skin. After he announced the country that would be the next target of America's War of the Week campaign, the crowd gave a standing ovation and thunderous applause. The camera cut to the First Spouse for a reaction shot, a retired champion racehorse named Sweet Harmony on Yon Mountainside in the front row wearing his best blanket. Their five year old son was to the right. He had his father's striking blue eyes, and his other father's mocha fur.
My great-great-great-great grandfather's clone made a disgusted sound. He pointed to the vidscreen. "And this," he huffed, "is exactly why I voted to make gay marriage unconstitutional. You open that door, you gotta open every other door." He sighed. "I'm spinning in my graves right now."

| No Cure for Cancer? |
[Oct. 2nd, 2003|03:19 pm] |
This is a public post because I feel this is very important:
I heard about this from my physical therapist who is trying to spread the word. There's a drug available that is the closest possible thing we have right now for a cure for cancer, AIDS, MS, and a lot of other diseases. People who have cancer and who have been taking this drug for five years show that the cancer goes away and doesn't return....and this is without chemo! This has also treated AIDS patients even better then the cocktail. Word of mouth is getting this drug out there to the public and soon this is just going to explode. My PT's son has muscular dystrophy and he is one of many kids in the US who is being treated using this, and the results are looking very good. (This information is not on the site yet since it's still being looked into until people know for sure.) Everyone knows someone with cancer, so the word should be gotten out about this. The website explains how to get a perscription for the drug, and explains more about it. I find this truely amazing and I think this is a major breakthrough. Spread the word!

| To Those Who Have Surfed on In: |

Technorati Profile
Yup, I have a journal, but it's friends only. If you want me to add you to my list, drop me a line here, I'll check back periodically. I'm a bit picky about who I add to my friends list if I don't know you in person, but I'll definately consider it. I primarily use LJ as a means of keeping in contact with all my friends, but I'm not adverse to meeting some new ones online. To my friends who read this and don't have LJs, sorry for the inconvienence. ): |
